Stay Fly

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on August 23, 2012 by kellizink

Whenever anyone asks to meet for drinks I normally respond with; “How about a workout instead?”.

I’d much rather catch up while burning calories rather than drinking them.

That’s what made last night’s Bright Pink Flywheel spin ride so perfect. It combined all of my favorite things; good friends, spin class, Bright Pink and sweaty bonding.

I got to create a playlist and ride on stage with my favorite instructor Michael Wollpert, and wear a microphone. Ok to be honest, that part gave me MAJOR social anxiety…but try something that scares you every day right? Almost all 47 bikes were filled with people wearing pink and the 45 min ride flew by. Michael is so inspirational, he kept it fun and had us all cracking up.

Me and Michael in front of the sign- they spelled my name right!

After everyone snacked on Pop Chips and Vitamin Water, then 14 of my closest friends and I slipped out for dinner across the street.

It’s rare that I’m able to combine everything I love into one night, but thanks to my amazing group of friends- it happened!

BP Founder Lindsay Avner said there will be many more rides to come, especially in October… so grab your crew and jump on a bike.
Today I was up bright and early for Fox. Here’s my segment if you’d like to peep it:

Fox Chicago 8/23

How cool is this!? Bright Pink asked me if I’d lead a ride with trainer and instructor extraordinaire Michael Wollpert to benefit the charity. No brainer. Bright Pink, Flywheel Spin and Michael are three of my favorite things.

If you want to ride with us- it’s only 25 dollars (the price of a normal drop in rate) and the cash all goes to Bright Pink!

It’s on Wednesday August 22 at 7:30pm at the downtown Chicago location.

To join- book your bike here.

A Quickie

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on July 17, 2012 by kellizink

I’ve been studying for a TV Guide shoot I’m taping tomorrow about “Quickie Hollywood Marriages” so my blog hasn’t been getting enough love. And we all know what happens when you don’t get enough attention (please don’t cheat on me with other blogs!)

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

Erin’s mom was visiting from Texas so we all went to GT Fish and Oyster. Chef Giuseppe Tentori went above and beyond with the meal.

Saturday I got my hair did (finally) and had lunch with my friends Mike and Joran, then we all hit Pitchfork for a hot (literally HOT 95 degrees!) second.

Sunday was the Bright Pink High Tea and here I am with my co emcee Alicia Roman from NBC and Bright Pink founder Lindsay Avner.
After the tea, we did a little boating before heading back to Pitchfork.

Vampire Weekend at Pitchfork- they are so amazing live. There’s something about dancing in the energy of a crowd, even if it is hot and sweaty!

After Pitchfork we hit up Avec for a bite, and may I say… I need to get my booty there more often. Every bite was unreal.

And Avner sent me this pic from a baby shower* a few months back:

*as if it was a typical shower!

From Fit to Fab

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on April 16, 2012 by kellizink

Yesterday’s Fab Fest was larger than life. To see 400 women excited and dressed in pink ready to work all day to support Bright Pink was an awesome thing.

The most honest moment of the day came with Giuliana broke down while addressing the crowd, it was a 100 percent real moment and I think to many of the girls she went from being a “celeb” to just like one of the group. Got to love her for cracking jokes even through the tears.

It’s so awesome to see how the event and how I’ve changed over the years.

A few people gave me the ultimate girl code statement: “You look great”, which basically means “You look skinny” or “You’ve lost weight”. And a few asked how I lost weight. Mexican diet pills- duh. KIDDING. I shared what’s been working for me lately- a combo of hot yoga, Flywheel spin and juicing here and there.

But i didn’t realize how different I look until I pulled up pics from Fit Fest 2010.

Listen, I realize everyone has a different perception of what is attractive, thin, fat, curvy, etc and I don’t want to come across as insensitive to any female who is trying to lose a few lbs or even worse- insult those who love their curves.

That said….GOOD LAWD. I look at those photos and don’t remember feeling like I looked heavy, but I do remember that’s when I was drinking too much, eating too late, hated the fact I cut my hair off and wasn’t happy overall.

Here are a couple photos from yesterday- the first is of me with G and founder Lindsay Avner (courtesy NBC) and the second was snapped by my camera friend Daniel Tomei- we liked the pink flowers at the Four Seasons.

Even though I was sleepy and it was early, I think I look healthier and happier than I did two years ago… and I’m thankful for those in my life who keep a smile on my face.

*side note- HI to the awesome girl I met who told me she reads my blog…I blushed and acted weird- but it really means a lot to me so thank you*
