Ever feel hungover even when you’re not?

*raises hand*

Today I’m back at CelebTV after a packed weekend. I think we spent as much time on flights as we did on the West Coast.

Saturday Shaun and I went to SF to visit my brother and Brett. Brett’s Dad and brother we in town for Father’s Day so we all went to brunch at The Tipsy Pig. Then Dad took a nap and watched the US Open while the kiddies went from one bar to another, finally ending up at a street festival. Shaun and I went back to our hotel to shower and change, and like most old people do…we fell asleep…at 7:30pm.

By 9am we were back in the Virgin terminal and heading to LAX for Giuliana and Bill’s baby shower.

The shower was unlike anything I’ve attended. I know that G & B want to keep some of the details private since it will be on their reality show but here’s what I can share:

  • the residence where the shower was hosted was up in the hills and it was HUGE. Stunning.
  • it was very relaxed- couples…kids…there was something for everyone.
  • there wasn’t a boring sit down lunch- rather various stations of treats.
  • it was a way smaller crowd than I imagined, with a large Chicago number of guests…it felt very intimate and as if they truly wanted each guest to be there.
  • B & G were glowing- literally- when they announced the baby’s sex.
  • everyone there was very friendly and chatted with each other…there was no “celeb stigma”.
  • Shaun and I spent most of the afternoon with Robbie Laughlin who is HILARIOUS.
  • The girls were sent home with SIICK gift bags. Best swag ever.

I’m truly so happy for them and it was nice to see them amongst family and friends and in their element.I would share what I got them, but I don’t know if they’ve opened it yet!

Shaun and I finished up the evening with dinner at Mercato di Vetro to visit with our friend Kwesi who is the GM* there.

Monday I had coffee with an old co worker then we headed back to Chicago.

Oh and I read 50 Shades of Grey and 50 Shades Darker. What a crock of BS- but that’s for another blog post.

*I think he’s the GM…he’s involved but not sure the exact capacity.

From Fit to Fab

Yesterday’s Fab Fest was larger than life. To see 400 women excited and dressed in pink ready to work all day to support Bright Pink was an awesome thing.

The most honest moment of the day came with Giuliana broke down while addressing the crowd, it was a 100 percent real moment and I think to many of the girls she went from being a “celeb” to just like one of the group. Got to love her for cracking jokes even through the tears.

It’s so awesome to see how the event and how I’ve changed over the years.

A few people gave me the ultimate girl code statement: “You look great”, which basically means “You look skinny” or “You’ve lost weight”. And a few asked how I lost weight. Mexican diet pills- duh. KIDDING. I shared what’s been working for me lately- a combo of hot yoga, Flywheel spin and juicing here and there.

But i didn’t realize how different I look until I pulled up pics from Fit Fest 2010.

Listen, I realize everyone has a different perception of what is attractive, thin, fat, curvy, etc and I don’t want to come across as insensitive to any female who is trying to lose a few lbs or even worse- insult those who love their curves.

That said….GOOD LAWD. I look at those photos and don’t remember feeling like I looked heavy, but I do remember that’s when I was drinking too much, eating too late, hated the fact I cut my hair off and wasn’t happy overall.

Here are a couple photos from yesterday- the first is of me with G and founder Lindsay Avner (courtesy NBC) and the second was snapped by my camera friend Daniel Tomei- we liked the pink flowers at the Four Seasons.

Even though I was sleepy and it was early, I think I look healthier and happier than I did two years ago… and I’m thankful for those in my life who keep a smile on my face.

*side note- HI to the awesome girl I met who told me she reads my blog…I blushed and acted weird- but it really means a lot to me so thank you*

Juice Like Jagger

Yes, I realize these blog titles are getting more and more ridiculous, but you know what people? I don’t care- I have been drinking liquids for FIVE days now.

Last night my guy shrieked (in a straight guy kinda way) when he touched me and felt ribs. He then demanded I eat today- God bless a man who likes women with curves right?

Sorry hunny- not done yet.

Here is what I’m currently drinking:

It’s awesome. It tastes like a strawberry milkshake. (with a kinda awful after taste- but keep drinking it so you don’t notice)

Last night  my co worker Jen Fisher and new camera dude Daniel and I all worked the red carpet for some event which we are still not clear on exactly what it was.

Caesar’s Casino had something to do with it, and it was broadcast in four cities with celebs attending each one.

Chicago’s event had; Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles and Bill and Giuliana Rancic.

Thanks to Luis Gomez, AGAIN, for passing along the info to us. Hopefully our new friends at PMK will invite us from now on.

We showed up to cover the event even though we were placed LAST on the carpet, and were guaranteed no interviews with anyone. That’s just how we roll.

I text Giuliana earlier in the day asking her not to snub me when she saw me on the red carpet. I was half kidding.

Sara talked to us and seemed engaged (I did my research and found she is stoked to see Hunger Games) until she was dragged away.

Then B and G hit the carpet and the PR rep said they may not talk to us.

But luckily for me, I wasn’t lying and I really am *real life friends* with them and they both came over and delivered hugs and kisses and a hilarious interview. I mean- I WISH we could air the stuff Bill was saying. He was a blast last night.

Adam and the band then stepped onto the carpet and talked to the house crew. Believe me, if their handler hadn’t whisked them away- they would have chatted with us, at least for a question or two. But that’s how the game is played.

Here is our happy crew on the carpet in one of the most awkward staged photos ever. My friend Tasos was shooting for Getty and the PR girls wanted a pic of the media bracelets…so we posed.

Say cheese! On second thought… don’t. I’m still starving.

RPM Italian

Last night I went to a tasting dinner at RPM Italian.

Tasting dinners are an awesome perk of being friends with people who own and open new restaurants. Most of the time you get to try the food before anyone else, and it’s all free. Everything tastes better when it’s free- no joke. But this food was so good that I would pay double to have it again.

I went with Matt, Nicole and Shaun and the four of us sat at the bar. I know what you’re thinking: “4 people sat at the bar…that’s weird.” It actually wasn’t- we sat at the corner of the bar and received the same attentive service they deliver in the main dining room.

Here were my highlights and what to order:

  • Lobster Caprese Salad- a modern twist on the classic. Perfect for two people to share.
  • Burrata cheese- honestly the best burrata I’ve ever had. Seasoned so well and served with delicious crispy warm bread.
  • Sea Bass Crudo- wow. even if you’re not a fan of raw fish you’ll love this.
  • Mushroom Pizza- think personal pan pizza with a modern and gourmet twist. I couldn’t stop eating it…and I rarely eat pizza period.
  • Squid Ink Pasta- spicy with huge chunks of seafood. delicious.
  • Sole- white fish cooked to perfection.
  • Bone In Ribeye- I didn’t touch it but the people I ate with loved it.
  • Parm Roasted Potatoes- once again seasoned perfectly and crispy on the outside and warm and perfect when you cut into them.
  • Cannolis- I don’t even eat dessert anymore but I devoured them and fought for the last bite.
  • Some dessert with “Bill” in the name- tasted like Jello pudding with drugs in it. That good.
  • The drink with tequila and grapefruit juice- I forget the name…(sorry Paul McGee!) It was not too sweet, refreshing and delicious.

Also worth mentioning- the fact that the music wasn’t too loud and I could actually hear my friends at dinner and the random lady who crashed the party and asked if she could have the bone from our steak for her dog.

Thanks again to; Molly, Jerrod, RJ, Martha and Rich Melman and Bill and Giuliana Rancic for having us in. We will be back.
