Vanity- My Favorite Sin.

I just got back from another visit to my dermatologist’s office- the second in less than a week. Needless to say I’m frustrated.

Apologies in advance to the men who read my blog- actually, how about you stop reading now? See- us ladies prefer to appear flawless without any effort.

Ok girls-  anyone else have pretty clear skin until their late 20’s and then all of a sudden you felt like if you stood next to a teenage boy- odds were his skin would be more clear!?!

It sucks. And I can say- I have tried literally almost everything.

No seriously. I’ve been on/have tried:

Accutane- twice. Retin-A, antibiotics, birth control, microdermabrasion, facials, cortisone injections, steroid injections, cutting out any possible food triggers, juice cleansing, every skin care line under the sun and I’m currently on a combo of Spironolactone, Retin-A and a Clairsonic brush three times a week.

Yet still, I found myself in the chair today getting 4 local cortisone shots into my face to shrink problems before they really got started.

Now even my amazing Dermatologist is nearly stumped. Next up is to try the new Tria Clarifying System which is a UV light used twice a day at home. It’s about $250 bucks- but for clear skin I’ll try nearly anything.

I’d really like to not have to resort to Accutane again- the monthly blood tests, severe dryness and nose bleeds are no bueno- but if it’s the only thing that will work…then I’m all for it.

To those with flawless skin- I envy the fact that you can wake up and roll over smiling at your partner without feeling like you have to jump out of bed and apply coverup before facing your day.

Everyone has their vice. Some pay $$$ for clothes, hair treatments, nail appointments- you name it. For me, I won’t stop until I feel confident in my own damn skin.

you have my empathy, i’m about to start my second round of accutane. i’m in my 30’s and i STILL have horrible skin.

I really relate to and appreciate this post! As someone who has baskets of over the counter as well as prescription creams that only dried out the skin around my breakouts and having tried numerous facials, peels and regimes to no avail, I totally feel your frustration. I would’ve never guessed from your celebtv footage or photos! Some people can roll their eyes at the problem but they’re usually the ones that can roll out of bed and leave the house without make up on without having to worry about people zoning in on their skin problems – so I hear ya! I just wanted to thank you for sharing!

I hear ya!! So, since you’ve been going through this, you must have learned how to conceal and cover them as well from pro’s. Whats been the best products/techniques so far?? 🙂
